Sex, Lies & Cigarettes’: Vanguard Sneak Peek
Fakta mengenai Industri dan bisnis Rokok diIndonesia, Penetrasi Rokok dalam masyarakat Indonesia, it’s ironic, isn’t it?
This documentary (with Indonesian Subtitles) records (not expose, it’s pretty obvious here) the tight grip tobacco companies such as Phillip-Morris (Marlboro) and British American Tobacco Company has on Indonesia’s young (and old) consumer base.

I just get increasily aggravated and frustrated at the reminder of this fact. My father is a strong anti-smoker and has repeatedly, in the short period of times we have in Jakarta, point out in disgust of these facts. Tobacco and smoking-related sponsorship and advertising-almost like a propaganda machine- is ever-present in young, and old, Indonesian lives. My two grandfathers never got to see me because of heavy smoking, and I wish more people in Indonesia would grow up in that similar upbringing.
Unfortunately, poverty and lack of education has made Indonesians easy targets and willing participants. A segment of the documentary even documents the self-aware politician who says “protecting jobs” in the tobacco industry in Indonesia is more important than the deaths as a result of it. I’m tempted to curse out, but here are the facts, all laid out in the video.
My only hope is that the message can be heard loud and clear, and that is best I can offer from afar.
